About the procedure
A nose surgery can create dramatic changes in the size and shape of the nose. That’s why it’s essential for us to thoroughly discuss your goals and what is surgically possible during your consultation, taking into account your unique biological characteristics. Our aim is always to achieve balanced results that look natural and unoperated.
At Victoriakliniken, rhinoplasty is almost always performed as an open procedure. We work with a concept called preservation, meaning we retain as much of the nose’s original structure as possible to reduce the risk of breathing issues or nasal collapse. This approach gives the surgeon full control throughout the procedure, enabling precise results and minimal bleeding. Our goal is for post-surgery swelling to subside quickly, leaving the nose looking natural without visible scars—a beautiful outcome with minimal complications.
During the procedure, the nose is reshaped by reducing or augmenting its supporting structures—bone and cartilage. The soft tissues of the nose, including the skin, then adapt and mold over the new shape of the underlying structures.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, meaning you’ll be asleep and pain-free. Depending on the extent of the procedure, you can go home the same day or the following day.
Before the surgery
Based on each patient’s unique features, we discuss various ways to achieve the best possible outcome. We also explain the techniques we use to optimize sculpting and walk you through the surgical process.
Technique
There are essentially two techniques for reshaping the nose: open or closed rhinoplasty. The choice of technique depends on the type of changes desired, the patient’s skin quality and preferences, as well as the surgeon’s recommendation. At Victoriakliniken, we almost exclusively perform open rhinoplasty, as our experience shows this method provides superior control during the procedure. Open rhinoplasty leaves a small scar beneath the tip between the nostrils, but this scar becomes nearly invisible within 3–6 months, as facial skin heals very well.
During the surgery
At Victoriakliniken, the procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia, and you can usually go home the same day. Most patients feel well just a few days after rhinoplasty and can return to work. A protective splint is worn for one week, followed by tape for an additional week.
After the surgery
Follow-up visits usually take place within a week with your plastic surgeon at the clinic. After the surgery, you can expect some swelling and discoloration around the eyes. This usually peaks between the second and third day, then gradually subsides. It’s recommended to sleep with your head elevated for the first few days. If the nasal bone was operated on, you’ll need to wear a splint for one week, followed by tape for an additional week.
Results
Bruising may occur but typically fades within 7–10 days. Maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, and avoiding nicotine products can also accelerate the healing process and help ensure the best possible outcome. The results are generally long-lasting after the surgery.
The final result will not be visible immediately. During the first 72 hours, your swelling will increase.
After six weeks, most of your swelling will have been absorbed. Between three to six months after the surgery, the final shape will become visible, and after two years, your scar tissue will have softened.
Possible Complications
As with any surgery, there is always a risk of complications such as infection and bleeding. However, the most common issue is slight irregularities. These can sometimes be difficult to predict, depending on skin quality. There is also a risk of impaired breathing or chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa, which can lead to a sensation of congestion.

Twenty years ago, my wife had a rhinoplasty, and this year, our daughter did too. We are incredibly pleased with the results and want to share this experience with others.
I can’t quite remember why we chose Victoriakliniken—it might have been luck. But the entire process, from consultation to surgery, aftercare, and follow-up, has been handled exceptionally well. It’s rare to feel such joy as a client when seeing the results. A huge thank you to Dr. Randquist and the team!

Price
We have chosen not to have a fixed price list, as each patient is unique with individual needs. In most cases, it’s only during the consultation that we can determine, together with you, which procedure(s) will be best to achieve a beautiful final result. With us, in addition to the surgery cost, anesthesia, medications, follow-up visits, compression garments, and bras are included, as well as, in most cases, at least one overnight stay after the surgery.
In general, all prices are shown inclusive of VAT, as all procedures and treatments except those performed for medical reasons have been subject to VAT since the beginning of 2014. In cases where the price is shown exclusive of VAT, this is because these procedures are always performed on medical grounds. (Price below includes VAT)
