Liposuction of the stomach, waist, back

Liposuction can be used to “sculpt” the stomach, waist, and back. These areas are often difficult to improve through normal weight loss. However, liposuction should not be regarded as a weight loss method.

About the procedure

A positive factor is that fat that has been removed cannot return, as fat cells do not regenerate but only grow and shrink, making liposuction an excellent method for localized fat removal. A younger person often has more elastic skin, which provides the best results. The degree to which the skin can retract after liposuction is crucial for the final outcome.

Before operation

Based on the patient’s natural conditions, we discuss different methods to achieve the best results. The plastic surgeon assesses the amount of excess fat present and the quality of the patient’s skin. We also provide information about the various techniques we use to optimize sculpting and how the procedure is carried out.

We recommend undergoing 2-4 LPG Endermologie treatments before surgery, as this stimulates and opens up the lymphatic channels, creating better healing conditions by allowing waste products after surgery to be transported away more effectively.

Teknik

Liposuction begins with injecting a fluid containing local anesthesia and adrenaline. Often, this involves the same volume as the amount of fat expected to be removed. The fat cells in the area are suctioned out using negative pressure. Small incisions, about 5 mm long, are made where a tube with various types of openings—depending on the desired type of liposuction—is inserted. These incisions leave very small, almost invisible scars. Sometimes, liposuction may need to be combined with various forms of lifting due to the volume that has been removed. In some cases, drainage tubes may also need to be placed to evacuate excess fluid and minimize swelling.

During the surgery

The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia, meaning you will be asleep and pain-free throughout the surgery, and you will stay overnight at the clinic. Minor procedures can be performed under local anesthesia, and many patients are alert enough to leave the clinic the same day. Most people feel well just a few days after liposuction and can return to work.

After the surgery

uring the first three weeks after liposuction, you should typically wear a compression garment both day and night. After that, it should be worn at night for an additional three weeks. For a smaller liposuction procedure, such as arm liposuction, a support stocking may be sufficient. Follow-up visits usually take place within a week with your plastic surgeon at the clinic. If you have gone home with drains, they are usually removed at that time. After about three weeks, we recommend LPG Endermologie treatments, as this stimulates and opens up the lymphatic channels, creating better healing conditions by allowing waste products after surgery to be transported away more effectively. This is also generally a good treatment for the lymphatic system, especially if you have a tendency toward…

Results of liposuction

Bruising may occur but usually disappears within a couple of weeks. Massaging the skin, maintaining a good diet, staying hydrated, and avoiding nicotine products also accelerate the healing process and ensure the best possible final result. The results are generally long-lasting after the surgery. The final result will not be visible immediately. During the first 72 hours, your swelling will increase. After six weeks, most of your swelling will have been absorbed. The final shape will become visible between three to six months after the surgery, and after two years, your scar tissue will have softened.

Possible Complications

Just like with all types of surgeries, there is always a certain risk of complications occurring with liposuction, such as infection, bleeding, and seroma. However, the most common issue is unevenness. Depending on skin quality, this can sometimes be difficult to assess.

With us, in addition to the surgery cost, anesthesia, medications, follow-up visits, compression garments, and bras are included, as well as, in most cases, at least one overnight stay after the surgery.

In general, all prices are shown inclusive of VAT, as all procedures and treatments except those performed for medical reasons have been subject to VAT since the beginning of 2014.
