In 2021, a new law was introduced to enhance patient safety and ensure that treatments and procedures are performed only by those with the necessary qualifications. For Victoriakliniken, this did not change the way we operate, as we have always adhered to these guidelines. However, we welcome this long-awaited legislation, as it provides additional protection for individuals undergoing aesthetic surgical procedures and aesthetic injection treatments in general.
Below, you can read a brief overview of what the legislation entails and its purpose, as well as what it means for you as a patient at Victoriakliniken.
Patient Safety
The law enhances patient safety by making the Patient Injury Act, the Patient Data Act, and the Patient Safety Act fully applicable, along with certain provisions of the Health and Medical Services Act.
Competency Requirements
What does the law mean for you?
According to the law on aesthetic surgical procedures, a consultation is required followed by a 7-day reflection period before a surgical procedure can be performed. For aesthetic injection treatments, a consultation is required followed by a 48-hour reflection period before the injection treatment can proceed.
If no treatment or procedure has been performed within 6 months, a new consultation is required. This also applies to existing patients who have not visited us within that timeframe. Additionally, the law requires that you provide your consent after the reflection period. Consent for the procedure or treatment can only be given once the reflection period has ended.
