About the procedure

Labial reduction, also known as labiaplasty, is a common procedure within intimate surgery performed for both aesthetic and functional reasons. Many women experience asymmetric or enlarged labia after puberty or pregnancy, which can lead to discomfort during physical activities, such as sports, or when wearing tight clothing. Through labiaplasty, discomfort such as pain and irritation can be reduced, and the result is often both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. At Victoriakliniken, we tailor the procedure to your specific needs to create a natural and balanced result.

Before the surgery

During a consultation with our specialized plastic surgeon at Victoriakliniken in Stockholm, we will go through your needs and wishes regarding labiaplasty. You will have the opportunity to discuss the issues you are experiencing and the results you wish to achieve with intimate surgery. Based on your individual circumstances, we will discuss different techniques to provide you with the best possible outcome. The plastic surgeon will conduct a thorough assessment, including the amount of excess tissue, any asymmetry, and your skin quality. We will inform you about the methods we use to optimize the result and provide clear instructions on how to prepare for the labiaplasty procedure, as well as what to expect during the healing process.

During the surgery

The labiaplasty procedure is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia, ensuring that you are pain-free throughout the procedure and can return home the same day. In the first few days after the surgery, you may experience some tightness and pulling in the surgical area, but the pain is typically mild and can be managed with mild painkillers, such as Alvedon. We will ensure that you receive the necessary medications to facilitate your recovery at home.

After the surgery

After labiaplasty, the area may be swollen, and you may experience some tenderness for 2–3 days. It is important to rest during the first few days to facilitate recovery. We will ensure that you receive pain relief medication to alleviate any discomfort. One week after the surgery, you will return to Victoriakliniken in Stockholm for a postoperative check-up, where we will follow up on the healing process. To ensure the best possible result, it is recommended that you avoid sexual intercourse, saunas, and sports activities for six weeks after the procedure.

Results and Expectations

After labiaplasty, bruising may occur, but these typically disappear within a couple of weeks. To accelerate the healing process and optimize the result, we recommend massaging the skin, maintaining a good diet, staying hydrated, and avoiding nicotine products. The result of labiaplasty is usually long-lasting. The final result will not be visible immediately – during the first 72 hours, swelling will increase, but after approximately six weeks, most of the swelling will have subsided. The final shape will be visible between three to six months after the surgery, and after two years, your scar tissue will have softened completely.

Possible Complications

As with all types of surgical procedures, there is a certain risk of complications even with labiaplasty. Common complications in intimate surgery may include infection, bleeding, and seroma. However, the most common complication is unevenness in the result, which can be difficult to assess due to the skin’s quality and elasticity. At Victoriakliniken in Stockholm, we always strive to minimize these risks and ensure a safe and secure treatment for all our patients.

I had an intimate surgery (labia reduction) with Marie and her team. I received a great reception during the consultation, good information beforehand, and answers to any questions I had. An incredibly attentive and professional group; I am very satisfied with the experience and the results. You are in safe hands at Victoriakliniken!

Price

We have chosen not to have a fixed price list, as each patient is unique with individual needs. In most cases, it’s only during the consultation that we can determine, together with you, which procedure(s) will be best to achieve a beautiful final result. With us, in addition to the surgery cost, anesthesia, medications, follow-up visits, compression garments, and bras are included, as well as, in most cases, at least one overnight stay after the surgery.

In general, all prices are shown including VAT, as all procedures and treatments, except those performed for medical reasons, have been subject to VAT since the turn of the year 2014/2015. In cases where the price is listed excluding VAT, it is because these procedures are always performed on a medical basis. (Prices below include VAT)
