Bodysculpting

Body Sculpting is a more advanced form of liposuction that not only removes excess fat but also sculpts various areas of the body to achieve a toned, muscular, and defined shape. This is accomplished using specialized liposuction cannulas and sometimes radiofrequency technology. In some cases, the removed fat can be transplanted to other areas of the body for optimal results. The most common areas targeted are the breasts, buttocks (often referred to as BBL or Brazilian Butt Lift), and the face.

What areas of the body can be addressed with body sculpting?

Typically, areas of your body that are difficult to improve through diet and exercise are treated. The body cannot spot-reduce fat, which is why assistance may be needed to eliminate fat deposits in:

• Face
• Arms
• Abdomen
• Breasts
• Buttocks
• Back/Waist
• Chin/Neck
• Inner and Outer Thighs
• Calves

What different types of body sculpting are available?

Laser-assisted body sculpting uses different wavelengths to melt away fat. PAL, or Power-Assisted Liposculpting, utilizes vibrating liposuction cannulas.

Who is a good candidate for body sculpting?

You are a good candidate for this procedure if you:

  • Are close to your ideal weight.
  • Are in good health
  • Have firmer, more elastic skin
  • Want to sculpt smaller areas of your body

Who is not a good candidate for body sculpting?

  • You are above your ideal weight
  • You smoke and cannot quit before the procedure
  • You have loose and sagging skin
  • Your weight fluctuates frequently
  • You have a medical condition that makes it unsafe

How does a body sculpting procedure work?

The time required for a procedure depends on how many areas are being treated.

Special cannulas, usually 3–5 mm wide, are used through a 1 cm incision to suction out excess fat according to the plan and markings on your body. This is done after the fat tissue has been injected with a solution that includes a local anesthetic and adrenaline.

If you are also undergoing a fat transfer, your plastic surgeon will cleanse the removed fat and inject it into the desired area.

What happens after a body sculpting procedure?

After the surgery, you will be encouraged to stay mobile and avoid prolonged bed rest to reduce the risk of complications, such as blood clots. You will also wear a compression garment for up to six weeks to minimize contour irregularities, pain, and swelling. A compression garment also reduces the risk of fluid buildup under the skin (seroma).

What are the benefits of body sculpting?

Body sculpting targets stubborn areas of fat that remain even after exercise and a healthy diet. You achieve a more toned, slimmer, defined, and proportionate figure.

What potential complications can occur?

When you meet with a plastic surgeon who has an aesthetic eye and, most importantly, extensive experience in body sculpting, the risks are significantly reduced. Complications, although rare, may include:

• Bleeding
• Blood clots
• Fluid accumulation under the skin
• Contour irregularities
• Hard lumps under the skin (nodular fibrosis)
• Infection
• Numbness
• Scarring
• Skin burns
• Skin discoloration (hyperpigmentation)

What is the recovery time after body sculpting?

The first three weeks are usually the most challenging. It’s common to experience bruising and swelling. However, using LPG, lymphatic drainage, and endermology before and after surgery can help speed up and improve the healing process.

When can I return to work and other activities?

Some people can return to work after a few days to a week, depending on their recovery and the type of work they do, of course. For others, it may take up to two weeks or longer. You will need to wait until six weeks after the surgery before engaging in any strenuous activities.

Price

We have chosen not to have a fixed price list as each patient is unique with unique conditions. In addition, it is often only during the consultation that we, together with you, come up with which procedure or procedures are appropriate to achieve a beautiful end result. In addition to the cost of the surgery itself, we include anesthesia, medication, return visits, girdle and bra and in most cases at least one overnight stay after the surgery.

In general, all prices are shown inclusive of VAT, as all procedures and treatments except those performed for medical reasons have been subject to VAT since the beginning of 2014. In cases where the price is shown exclusive of VAT, this is because these procedures are always performed on medical grounds. (Price below includes VAT)
